Sometimes I Just Want to be a Unicorn

2017 seems to be dominated my unicorn themed everything. Personally this makes me extremely happy as I love unicorns. People are finally discovering the beauty of a unicorn. A mythical creature associated with rainbows and glitter.

When Starbucks announced that they were going to release a Unicorn Frappuccino, I was thrilled and drove to the nearest Starbucks… a little to early. The unicorn themed frappuccino is available from April 19-23rd. After waiting a few more days, I went to Starbucks again on the release day and got my own to try. I don’t know how I feel about it. The drink is beautiful with enough sugar to kick start my early journey to diabetes heaven yet I was left disappointed. I wanted magic, rainbows, and glitter.

Below is Starbucks’ description of the frappuccino:
“The flavor-changing, color-changing, totally not-made-up Unicorn Frappuccino. Magical flavors start off sweet and fruity transforming to pleasantly sour. Swirl it to reveal a color-changing spectacle of purple and pink. It’s finished with whipped cream-sprinkled pink and blue fairy powders.”

Even though I didn’t enjoy it as much as I would have liked to, it’s worth to try at least once. My cousins went the day after I did and most of the Starbucks were already sold out of the ingredients, but they managed to hunt one down.

While I was disappointed by my Unicorn Frappuccino, I was elated to find that there is a place in Fresno that sells Unicorn Macarons. Sweet Lyfe Boba Bar located by Fresno State sells them for $2.50. They pair well with the unicorn themed boba drinks and are so cute to hold. Much cuter than my attempt at making unicorn donuts a couple of months of ago.
While I failed at making unicorn donuts, I managed to be successful at making unicorn noodles. Pictured below is the unicorn bowl that assembled without the miso beet sauce.

Finding unicorn themed recipe and food perks up my day to day life and I can’t wait to find more. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Late Post: Hmong International New Year 2016-2017

IMG_7625 Late Post: Hmong International New Year 2016-2017 OUTFITS

This year I was only able to go to Hmong New Year for 2 days. My family always tries to go at least one day all dressed up in Hmong clothes. A majority of my outfits are made by mom and usually my sister and I go dressed up in matching outfits. I paired this with a white pleated skirt.

Took a picture with my favorite Hmong singer- Maa Vue. Her performance was by far the best at the Yellow Diamond New Years Party. There was so much detail and thought put into the performance. You can’t really tell in the photo but it was raining and super windy this day. It was the only day I had left to go so I still braved the weather and wore my Thai outfit since I wasn’t able to wear it last year.

I also spent the day in the rain looking for cute hair ornaments to match my outfit. Next year, I am going to try to go more often. I also have a DIY project in mind so stay tuned! I can’t wait to start and show you all my finished product.

Today is Day 5 of PIIT 28 1.0! PIIT stands for Pilates Intense Interval Training and is a workout program developed by Cassey Ho from Blogilates. I watched Cassey’s Youtube videos for about 4 years and was interested in buying and trying PIIT 28.
PIIT 28 is composed of 28 workouts with each workout lasting 28 minutes and 40 seconds long. If you include the warm up and the cool down stretches it should take about 45 minutes.  Personally, I was trying to find something that was less than 1 hr so that I could incorporate it into my everyday routine. The only time that I can work out is before workThis requires me to wake up at 5 AM and originally I was dreading to wake up so early. The first couple of days were difficult, but now my body has adjusted to waking up that early.
I would highly recommend finding a workout partner or at least someone to hold you accountable. My cousin and I call each other in the morning to make sure we are working out instead of laying in bed.
At Day 5, I already feel more energized, flexible, and stronger. I noticed during yoga today that I completed more poses with less modifications. For me this fitness journey is less about losing weight and more about toning and getting stronger. I wanted to be consistent and more active. I can’t wait to see my results at the end of the month and will continue to post updates.
