Perfect Pleats:: White Lace & Pleated Skirt
Happy Sunday, everyone! I’m always drawn to lace detailing, it’s soft and romantic. Lace and pastels make me feel super feminine and slightly whimsical.

Since I moved back to Fresno, I enjoy finding cute spots for pictures. This a bike tunnel that is part of the Old Town Clovis Trail off of Clovis and San Jose. What are some other hidden gems in the Fresno/Clovis area?

Hmong Outfit:: Batik & Silver
For the outfit I made everything except the skirt, necklace, and silver belt or siv. I was inspired by Batik for this outfit and incorporated Batik print throughout the outfit. Paired with a white skirt the focus is on the batik. Batik is a resist dye technique where wax is applied to the fabric in a design and then dyed with indigo. After the dye, the wax is removed and a white design is left behind. This is typically done on yards of fabric then pleated with hundreds of accordion pleats onto a skirt. Instead of usually actual batik, I used a fabric that had a batik print. I am still in the search for my very own batik skirt though.
Rosely took beautiful shots of the outfit! I posted a couple of my favorites. Stay tuned for tutorials on pattern drafting for a fitted Hmong shirt and for a traditional Hmong shirt. Let me now in the comments if you want additional tutorials on how to make Hmong clothes.

Late Post: Hmong International New Year 2016-2017
This year I was only able to go to Hmong New Year for 2 days. My family always tries to go at least one day all dressed up in Hmong clothes. A majority of my outfits are made by mom and usually my sister and I go dressed up in matching outfits. I paired this with a white pleated skirt.

Trip to SoCal
After the Last Bookstore, we made a trip to Komodo. They are known for making the phorrito, which is basically pho wrapped in a tortilla. It was surprisingly really good, and I can’t wait to try to make it myself at home. It’s been a while since I actually experimented in the kitchen.
For a night out, I picked out this hunter green slip dress from Topshop. The lace adds a delicate touch and I wore my vegan leather jacket to make it more edgy. Leather and lace is one of my favorite combinations.
Visiting Connie

Last weekend was a little departure from a carefully planned routine weekend. A weekend that I needed, to break the cycle of keeping myself locked up in my apartment. So I braved Bay Area traffic, and drove directly to Santa Maria after work.

After spending Saturday at Lopez Lake, we decided to have a quick stop at the beach before I make my trek back to the Bay. Montana de Oro is secluded and serene, perfect for a picnic for two. Personally, I would pick a cute spot on the bluffs and read a book alone.
